With so many events, and obligations for our children these days, how do you eat healthier food? First off, it’s not easily accomplished, but with carefull planning and knowledge you can do it. Now, I’m not saying you can’t have it at all, just not as often as we normally do. Our food today is processed so much that it only takes about five minutes or less to cook, and has many carbs, along with many other things that can’t digest fast enough. And because the food is so processed today, it’s not as good for you, like it use to be.
The F.D.A. even fixed the food pyramid to go along with how we eat these days. They say that we should consume more whole grain foods, and also more vegetables. All the diets out there today are saying low carbs, and low fats, and even no fat foods. To start eating healthier you have to read the labels of everything you eat these days.The truth is that you really can’t eat healthy at a fast food place, but what you can do is make better choices. Don’t eat things that are fried! Yes, this includes french fries to. Drink tea, or water if available. Cut down how many times a week you eat fast food. Try and only eat it once a week, if that. If you have to eat out, eat at Subway instead, but only if it is a must, it has far fewer calories than eating at McDonald’s or some place else.
One of the best ways for you to start eating healthier, is to cook your own meals at home most of the week. This just takes a little planning on your part. Read the back of the labels when you buy your food, to make sure it’s not loaded with processed ingredients, because like I said before, they are full of carbs and other things that aren’t really healthy for you, plus they take longer to digest which will make you hungry again, in a shorter period of time.
Plan a weekly healthier meal plan, and cook one night of the week. Make a couple of different dishes, and freeze them in freezer safe containers, or stick them in the fridge. This way you can just pop the dishes in the microwave on the nights you don’t have time to cook. Or better yet, if you have a crock pot, you can set it on low before you go to work, and when you get home from work, dinner is ready! You can also eat salad a couple of times a week with dinner. Salad is always healthy for you just be careful how much dressing you use.
